PRIDE NEWSLETTER - 5/2/25

Hi Fam 🌈

Today marks International Harry Potter Day. There was a time when queer fans of the series would have donned their best robe and quidditch gear and joined in the festivities. Today we still celebrate, but now we do so with acts of resistance and determination not to let the real world Voldemorts *cough* JK Rowling *cough* Donald J. Trump *cough* cow us into silence.

For our community, this day is still about magic. Trans magic and trans joy — and this week, despite everything, there was plenty of it to celebrate. It was embodied by Airyn De Niro coming out and embracing her Black trans identity and her father, legendary actor Robert De Niro, showing support and love for her, while also joining the dozens of A-list celebrity parents who have done the same. Household names like Marlon Wayans, who also expressed his love for his son Kai this week.

While this week was filled with joy, there was also sadness, as the world lost one of its most-loved dolls, the incomparable Jiggly Caliente. While we may be mourning her loss, the gift of her talent and charisma is immortal.

This one's for Jiggly.

Cheers,

Rachel Shatto, Editor-in-Chief

PRIDE ON OUR SCREENS 👀

Another Simple Favor; The Four Seasons; Brooke Eden

Prime Video; Netflix: This Is Hit/BBR Music Group/Lime Tree Music

Here’s what we’re watching, listening to, and vibing to this weekend!

🎥 Film: Another Simple Favor

Emily (Blake Lively) and Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) are back for another round of mystery, intrigue, murder, and intense sapphic chemistry in this sequel to the 2018 lesbian fave, A Simple Favor. While there are fewer suits this time around, Emily's over-the-top resort wear and bloody wedding dress make up for it. Another Simple Favor is streaming now on Prime Video.

📺 Stream & Chill: The Four Seasons

We know Colman Domingo is one of the greatest living actors, but at long last we get to see him show off his comedy chops in this all-star ensemble series. The Four Seasons follows a group of couple friends — Kate (Tina Fey) and Jack (Will Forte), Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), and Danny (Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani) — who are meeting for what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. But relationship drama leads to chaos instead. It’s now streaming on Netflix.

🎧 In Our Ears: Brooke Eden, “Giddy Up!”

Lesbian country star Brooke Eden dropped a boot scootin’ banger that is going to have us two steppin’ all weekend long.
